iServe #Prayer 2
We have been praying now for a week and God has been moving in our midst to accomplish His purpose in our lives both as individuals and corporately. I wonder at times if we realize how much He really wants to do in and through us. I believe that we all underestimate the level of impact that God would accomplish in and through us if we would only take our rightful place in Him.
Noah was a fellow who was chosen of God to lead his family in a ministry direction that they probably thought was an adventure in stupidity. They obeyed him perhaps because of family dynamics and what else was there to do with a father who declared that he had heard directly from God in prayer! So, they listened as dad preached about a flood coming for 120 years even as he led them in building a huge boat in the back yard. That ark would save both human and animal life on earth! That was some response to prayer, wasn’t it?
Abraham prayed and God led him and his wife out of a godless idol-worshipping family and on a journey of communication which resulted in miracles of provision and protection. That life of intimate prayer would also lead to the birth of the Jewish nation and would propel the Jews forward through covenantal promises to the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. That miraculous birth would lead to our salvation and freedom from the clutches of sin’s stranglehold authority exercised through fear over our lives. What a world changing prayer for Abraham; “Who am I, God. Who are You and what do you want out of me?”
What if I told YOU that such world changing and history altering PLANS were on God’s mind concerning you and I? We might think, “Who, me?” Exactly! Noah came out of a world full of rebellious sinners and was the only one God found He could trust! Abraham came from a family that did not know God and didn’t want His influence in their lives. EVERY circumstance was against them and they neither knew nor understood the Plans of Almighty God when they were called through PRAYER to forever CHANGE their world and eventually, OUR LIVES! That was some kind of praying, huh?
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thess 5:16-18 NKJV Child of God, do YOU and OUR world a big favor as servants of God… #PRAY!
